September Favorites

To be honest, sometimes choosing favorites from the past month is difficult because I get so set in my routines and nothing stands out, but this time it was all too easy. Basically, I forced Fall on my September and with it came all the coziness, coffee, candles, and more coze. You might want to get a snack because this post is a longer one!

One of my favorite things to do as seasons change is go shopping. I’m not a huge fan of shopping on the regular, so seasonal is best for me. If you’ve never been to Trader Joe’s, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, or Target at the very beginning of fall you’re missing out. I went fall crazy this year and a majority of my favorites are from this fall haul.

I picked up this orange, grey, and white DKNY throw blanket from TJ Maxx and it’s everything I’ve ever needed and more. Maybe a little dramatic, but I do love it. It’s so soft and cozy and makes my apartment that much better. We searched the whole internet to find the exact throw, but cannot find it anywhere, so here’s a similar one!

Something else I picked up from TJ Maxx is my new fall candle. I have a candle buying problem, so I told myself that I could pick ONE new candle this fall and this one is worthy of the title. It’s called Pumpkin Harvest and the scent is perfect. I have another pumpkin candle that smells sickly sweet so I can only burn it for a little while until the scent gives me a headache. THIS CANDLE is the best combination of pumpkin spice, apples, and cinnamon that’s subtle enough to burn for hours at a time without inducing a headache! Yes please.

This next group of items is all the fall treats I scooped up from Trader Joe’s and Target. I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m a suck for anything “limited edition.” That means that all the pumpkin things have to be mine before they all go away. My favorites from my September haul ended up being Chocolate Mousse Pumpkins, Fall Harvest Salsa, Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancake Mix, Maple Leaf Cookies (all from Trader Joes), and my Califia Farms Pumpkin Spice and Pecan Caramel almond milk, dairy free coffee creamers (I found both at Target).

If you’re on Instagram, you’ve probably seen the Huji trend lately. I jumped on board the Huji train and I’m not looking back. The other app I’ve been loving is Unfold. I’ve purchased all the additional frame sets and I use this app on the reg for my personal IG and the accounts I run for work!

And finally, it would not be my true September favorites if I did not include
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. This movie instantly makes me feel like a 12 year girl again & I’m here for it. You all can carry on while I keep searching for my Peter Kavinsky…

September is a very busy month for me at work. It’s the beginning of a new semester and it’s the beginning of a very busy event season. Because of that, all of my September favorites are things that help me relax.

My first favorite it my current crochet project. Shoutout to my best friend Hayley Allen. If you don’t know I am notoriously bad at arts and crafts. If you ever want proof just ask Kylie to see the photo of me trying to arm knit. However, Hayley successfully taught me how to crochet and I am not too bad at it. I am currently working on a blanket and, because I actually know what I am doing, it’s a very relaxing and rewarding evening activity.

While I am crocheting, I like to light one of my twenty white pumpkin candles. I love this scent. It’s SO calming for me. I stock up on this scent every year at TJ Maxx. I probably own almost ten white pumpkin candles, all different sizes and each year I buy at least four more. I never want to run out and need to be prepared for one day when they don’t make my scent anymore.

When I have enough time to actually relax and watch a movie, I, like the rest of the world, am currently obsessed with To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Can we just talk about how stinking cute this movie is? As much as I love Noah Centineo, I actually love Lana Condor a little more. She is so good as Laura Jean and every time I rewatch TATBILB I love her more and more.

My next favorite for this month is my sleep mask! It blocks out light, but the kicker is, it stays on my face all night long. Which is huge. It’s so comfortable & I’ve gotten so attached I actually have trouble falling asleep without it.

My final favorite for this month is my favorite snack. Lily’s Chocolate Chips are not only super yummy, but the company is wonderful. I love companies that I can trust, have a great message behind them and create great products. I snack on these chocolate chips probably more than I should, but they’re super yummy and totally satisfy my sweet tooth.

Wait. September happened already? Time. Is. Flying. As I try to remember what actually happened in September a few favorites items that were there stick out. The first being MY BABY’S FIRST PAIR OF VANS. I was a sucker for baby shoes before getting pregnant, but now it’s on a “whole nother level” as they say. We used the vans (along with mine and austin’s) for our announcement photo on September 24th and –  to totally brag – it turned out to be pinterest worthy (completely thanks to Austin’s skills with a camera…but it was my vision. So #teamwork). Until Baby Rexy…don’t worry folks, Rexy is just the placeholder name until we decide on one…or is it??? No, it is….is here to claim to the shoes, they sit in our room and make me smile every time I see them.

So my morning routine now includes going to the gym at 6am which leaves me very little time to get ready for work once I get home. I’ve been rocking the semi-wet ponytail most days as a result and to dress up my look just a little I started using Nyx Lingerie liquid lipstick- 03 lace detail. This stuff is the best. It stays on for a really long time and is a really classy color that says “yes, I tried” but in a good way.

Another constant in my life during the month of September was Ted Danson – specifically the Cheers version. As part of an assignment for one of my classes this semester, we were to pick an older sitcom and analyze it. I quickly became obsessed with the show and would watch it any chance I got, calling it “homework” when I needed to defend a multi-episode binge watching session to myself or Austin. Whoops.

On a more responsible note, Crafting Short Screenplays That Connect by Claudia Hunter Jonhson became another favorite. This is a textbook for another class that came with me everywhere I went – mainly because I had to read a ton of pages each week. It is a favorite because I learned so much from it and already plan on rereading it at some point because it’s so good and explained things in a way that just clicked with my brain.

Pineapple mug! Easily the most favorite mug I own (thanks, Sara <3). It’s also the only one I use now since I only drink about a half to one cup of coffee a week because of Rexy. That means it’s always clean by the time I go to use it again and always my first choice.
